About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own set of gear, or choose a private experience with hotel pick-up, a guide, skipper, and a private boat. For the private excursion, lunch is not included but can be purchased in the port and brought on board or you can schedule a lunch stop at a restaurant. Ferry tickets for the private experience cost an additional 60 euros (paid at check-in).

Itinerary

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

Fantastic day trip

This was a great day trip out of the hustle and bustle of Rome Our guide was knowledgeable and very helpful in every aspect of the trip even making sure we knew how to get back to our hotel from the meeting place after The boat was clean and well maintained Ponza Island is beautiful the water is an amazing color of blue and green My teenage kids liked swimming through the caves This island is closer than Capri so makes for a better choice if youre just looking to spend the day The transport from bus to ferry was seamless as the guides helped you

Ended up going on this

Ended up going on this trip with my sister and it was well worth it The journey isnt as bad as some people have lamented What I mean is that yeah its an hour and half on bus and another two by ferry to get on our boat but the time flew Also Valerio our guide was great and clear and super helpful Just make sure to plan the entire day for the trip The trip is well organized and everything ran on schedule At first I was scared to do this trip because I wasnt sure if I was fit enough with an injured knee if you can climb a pool ladder you are fit enough for this trip and I am scared of open waters but this trip allowed my to see my irrational fears The views are amazing and the water was so refreshing during a heat wave that was happening in Rome This trip was def my favorite part of my trip to Italy this summer Last thing make sure to bring your sunblock

Swimming at Ponza Island

Tour guide was awesome My wife and I enjoyed the swims It was 5 20 minute swims at different parts of the island Just jump out the boat and into the ocean We swam through caves and all kinds of different beautiful scenery
