About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own mask and snorkel rental for the day.

Itinerary

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

Wonderful day, beautiful island, and an excellent guide!

Kimberly was our guide. A group of 5 met in Rome early in the morning to travel to the coast where a few others joined. Then we took a ferry to Ponza (reverse for the way back). Throughout the entire process, Kimberly was helpful and attentive and made sure we all could explore our surroundings with the time we had. The boat ride circles the entire island over 5 hours, stopping to swim a few times and to eat lunch cooked for us by the boat’s captain. Kimberly shared interesting facts about the island’s history along the way, and was always friendly, helpful and courteous, making sure everyone was enjoying themselves and the ride. Highly recommend this trip, take a day away from the city’s history to visit this picturesque island.

Ponza trip

The trip to ponza was amazing there were a lot to see and explore there our guide was excellent and we enjoyed the boat ride also the captain cooked us lunch on the boat it was very good and the views are amazing!! I'm highly recommend to visit there when you got the chance!

A perfect day

Gina was the perfect guide, informative and a language expert (she could speak italian, russian, portuguese...). The pickup and drop off was smooth and on time. The best part of the experience was the island itself, an excellent day far from the crowds and hot summer days in Rome. The highlight of my family trip to Italy.

Highlight of Italy Trip

My son and I toured Italy for 10 days and it was fascinating. As great as everything was, our Ponza Island excursion was the BEST! Absolutely stunning views, beautiful water, swimming, snorkeling, and our guide were all fantastic! Our guide, Kimberly was so accommodating and made us feel welcome and comfortable our entire trip. She was also super informative. The trip was well planned as we never felt rushed and had ample time at each stop to swim, and take in the spectacular atmosphere of the Mediterranean Ocean.

Absolutely best tour we went on.

Absolutely best tour we went on. Our guide I believe her name was Kimberly, was organized and informative. The island is beautiful and the waters were amazing. Just can't say enough about it. Hope we can go again someday.
