About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own set of gear, or choose a private experience with hotel pick-up, a guide, skipper, and a private boat. For the private excursion, lunch is not included but can be purchased in the port and brought on board or you can schedule a lunch stop at a restaurant. Ferry tickets for the private experience cost an additional 60 euros (paid at check-in).

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

Ponza, What an amazing experience!

Ponza is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, this day trip was such a treat! We took a boat trip around the island and stopped at various places to take a dip in the sea. I highly recommend bringing the snorkel mask , the sea is clear blue. It is so much fun to look around under water and explore. Our tour guide Kimberly was so informative and kind. She also brought us to the grottos which was a really cool experience. I will definitely be going back!

Ponza boat trip

Incredible trip. We took a bus early in the morning to a ferry, ferried to the beautiful island of Ponza, got on a boat with roughly 30 people, sailed all around Ponza stopping off at beautiful coves with our guide describing their history. Amazing experience.

Surreal!

I wanted to explore the local side of the country and do some snorkeling, so I booked this tour through. This tour is a must for anyone who likes to swim and snorkel! It was well organized, my tour guide was accommodating and very knowledgeable about the area and its history, and they serve you lunch on the boat!...

Ponza Day Trip - Incredible!

I cannot convey how amazing EcoArt's day trip to Ponza is. We just took this trip halfway through a weeklong trip to Rome with our two kids, ages 9 and 11. And while Rome is spectacular, Ponza felt like paradise on earth. It's a craggy yet beautiful island on the Tyrrhenian Sea, surrounded by the clearest, bluest water I've ever seen. With EcoArt, we explored the entire island by fishing boat: Kimberly, our guide, worked with the captain to pick choice swimming and snorkeling spots, shared geologic and historical info along the way, and even made sure our youngest had a floater in the water. We all had a blast; my kids both claimed it was "the best family outing we've ever had." Finally, I should also add that Kimberly--in addition to being super friendly and knowledgable about Ponza and Lazio--made all the logistics work. The bus and ferry and boat rides were all coordinated perfectly--not an easy feat in Italy. So go to Ponza!! You'll love it and the tour EcoArt has put together

Best day trip out of Rome

Kimberly was amazing. Knew when to inform us and when to give us time to relax. She was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, giving us historical information, architectural tips, geological info and general knowledge of the ecosystems. The island itself is picturesque. Cerulean blue waters with incredible clarity. Snorkeling is a must. Definitely would do again, best day trip out of Rome. Thanks to the eco travel team.
