About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own set of gear, or choose a private experience with hotel pick-up, a guide, skipper, and a private boat. For the private excursion, lunch is not included but can be purchased in the port and brought on board or you can schedule a lunch stop at a restaurant. Ferry tickets for the private experience cost an additional 60 euros (paid at check-in).

Itinerary

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

Great day trip

This was an amazing experience Our tour guide Mara was excellent The best part of the trip was swimming through caves and the color of the water was magical It took a lot to get to Panza from Rome bus and ferry but it was well worth it

Every thing was perfect Planning was amazing and the organizers are so professional The bus was clean and the boat at the bonza island was great and the lunch although they say it is modest but it was so delicious Thx ELL for all the support

Great time on the island Travel there less great

There were good and not so good things about this trip Pros The ArtEco tour people were excellent and our guide Mara was super cheerful friendly informative helpful and swam like a porpoise Ponza Island itself is a picturesque oasis with quaint pastel harbor and surrounded by azure blue water and white pleasure boats We had five swimming stops around the island and the opportunity to swim into these very cool volcanic caves One reverberated with the sound of waves crashing and it felt like being inside a drumBOOM BOOM A modest but satisfying lunch was served on the boat Note that boating and swimming are really the point of the trip you dont get to spend a lot of time on the island Cons The trip is about 15 hours fully half of which is travel in and out of Rome First there is an hour and a half bus ride to the port at Anzio The bus is perfectly fine modern and airconditioned But the entire way they played this torturous Euro dance pop that should be banned by the Geneva Convention Then we got on the ferry for another hour and a half to Ponza Would you like riding over very bumpy roads in an old cramped crowded Italian bus with small opaque saltencrusted windows Then you would like the ferry Bonus you get to do it all over again on the way back to Rome TLDR Ponza Island is terrific Getting there and back not so much
