Great experience

This was a great experience and probably one of my favorite things to do near Rome We got a lot of swimming done which was nice for the very hot weather Maura was a great tour guide She was very kind and understanding I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone on the fence

A great Ferragosto

Even though Im from Rome it was my first time in Ponza My friends had already been there and assured me it would be worth it and it was The island itself the sea shores and coves are stunning The visit was very well organized and Valerio our guide was always available and was able to enrich our experience with information and facts about everywhere the place we visited and during the transfers

Amazing Experience

Our family of four loved swimming in the Mediterranean and the island of Ponza has such beautiful sites Its the clearest water weve ever seen and weve been to the Caribbean Mexico and Key West We would go again maybe even twice in the same trip if it was long enough Especially for Americans if youll prepare yourself for close quarters and some cultural discomfort youll be able to enjoy the experience Mara is amazing at her jobbilingual guide historian coordinator lifeguard assistant chef and standby photographer always anticipating the needs of the guests Things to consider This is a very reasonably priced option for those who want to experience an island in the Meditarranean without the high price tag The meeting location is easy to findnear the Piramide metro station or by taxi anyone who says otherwise probably didnt read the directions or was running late There is no reason for people to complain about the long day The island doesnt come to you Even if you coordinated the details on your own youd still have to take a 640AM train to catch a 940AM ferry and then meet up with your boat captain who wont be as accommodating and helpful as a guide like Mara You then have to reverse the process ensuring you get back to the ferry port in time to catch the return train in Anzio Youre paying for the convenience and expertise the guide and boat captain offer The bus is comfortable Its about an hour and 15 minutes to Anzio No bathroom on the bus so be sure to take care of that before you head out in the AM Transferring from the bus to the ferry and waiting for embarkation takes about 30 minutes The ferry is airplanestyle seating 343 Every seat will likely be taken which is why the tour leaves so early to allow families and friends to have the opportunity to board early and hopefully sit together There will be a seat you just may not be able to sit all togethermake the best of it its only an hour and half If youve never been on a boat before this may not be the best first experience You are enclosed and can feel the movement of the water There is one mens and one womens bathroom on board at the FRONT of the seating area so everyone knows when you go The bathroom may run out of toilet paper and may not be serviced during the trip Not a bad idea in Europe to keep tissues with you Youll have about 20 minutes to get a drink or a snack in Ponza before boarding the boat Youll be on the boat for about 5 hours and about half of that time is spent in the water Be prepared for 2030 minutes of a slow island tour once youre on the boat You wont get into the water right away Even with almost 30 people the boat was NOT crowded You wont be able to have a whole area to yourself just a seat They must have a certain number of people to make enough to pay the bus driver the guide and the boat crew not to mention fuel and still make a profit If you want a private tour you need to pay for it Lunch is simple pasta with red sauce and tuna already mixed in You can choose to have plain pasta with olive oil They also offer cups of water and wine and coffeeespresso with or without sugar The bathroom on board is simple but sufficient Keep in mind that everything flushed gets sent into the sea So toilet paper goes into a can not into the toilet and only flush when the boat is moving not when the boat is anchored at a swimming spot On the return you get about 45 minutes in Ponza to do some shopping and grab a snack before the ferry departs Youll want to be toward the front of the line if you want seats together Bring a cardcash for snacksshopping in Ponza and the mobile ice creamcoffeealcohol boat that comes along side during lunch Bring cash for tips for the boat crew the guide and the bus driver if youre so inclined You can try to change in to dry clothes in the boat bathroom or the ferry bathroom but it can be challenging Youll want to bring a bag of some sort for wet clothestowels You wont want to schedule an early tour for the next day as youll be exhausted but fulfilled with the best of memories
