First access tour of Vatican Museums and Basilica

The guide was knowledgeable and his English was very good It seems every tour operator has a first access tour so the Vatican was very crowded I am glad I had an opportunity to see the Museums the artwork is priceless At the end of the tour you can go back and spend more time in the museums but you loose the shortcut access to the basilica which we did not want to loose since the lines to get into it were very long already The Sistine Chapel is amazing but very crowded You do only spend about 15 minutes there and photographs are not allowed If you have never seen the Vatican the tour is worth it just be prepared that it will be very crowded

Starting Point

Plan on arriving to our meeting point at least 15 minutes in advance of your selected departure time. Meet our representative on the steps in front of Via Tunisi, 4. The steps are located at the corner with Via Sebastiano Veniero. Your Ticket Host will be holding a flag with the green EcoArt logo.


Ending Point

Vatican Museums or St. Peter's Basilica (depending on option selected)

Itineraries vary from day to day and at the discretion of your guide who will adapt your route.

This itinerary covers the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Other stops include but are not limited to: Pinecone Courtyard, Belvedere Courtyard, Room of the Muses, the Round Room, Greek Cross Room, Candelabra Gallery, Gallery of the Tapestries,Gallery of the Maps and the Raphael Rooms.

Choose an option that includes Skip the Line Access to St. Peter's Basilica to enjoy a direct route from the Vatican Museums. No guided tour will be provided. Please note that the Basilica is a separate venue to the Vatican Museums.


Additional information
  • Comfortable shoes are recommended.
  • Leave big backpacks at your hotel! Only small purses are permitted inside the Museums.
  • Something to cover your knees and shoulders.
  • Photos are permitted is almost all rooms of the Vatican Museums, except for the Sistine Chapel. No bulky or clearly professional photographic or video equipment (especially tripods or large videocameras, equipment backpacks) will be permitted inside the Museums.

Daily except Sunday

  • We are unfortunately unable to accomodate guests with wheelchairs.
  • Guests must be able to climb and descend stairs on their own.
  • *THIS VOUCHER IS NOT A TICKET* You must redeem this voucher at the meeting time and location designed on this voucher, with one of our designed Ticket Coordinators.
  • It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes.
  • Large bags and backpacks must be checked in.
  • To enter the Vatican Museums, shoulders and knees must be covered.

    • Tour goes forward rain or shine! Your Vatican Tour may be cancelled for a full refund or may be switched to a different date/time as long as your request is received no later than 24 hours before your original departure time and date.     Exploring the Vatican with Ms Frizzle or really Sara

    Sara with EcoTours was so incredibly kind knowledgeable personal and attentive She made each of us in our upgraded group of ten feel like we were a part of a close knit class on a field trip She made sure we were taken care of and that each of us could ask any question at any time I visited the Vatican once before and never did I feel as special as this This tour allowed us to see exclusive parts of the Vatican and it gave me a heightened understanding and appreciation of the entire museum the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica I couldnt recommend this tour enough
