About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own set of gear, or choose a private experience with hotel pick-up, a guide, skipper, and a private boat. For the private excursion, lunch is not included but can be purchased in the port and brought on board or you can schedule a lunch stop at a restaurant. Ferry tickets for the private experience cost an additional 60 euros (paid at check-in).

Wonderful experience except for the ferry

The guide Ponza and the boat ride around the island were all 5 stars But the 2 hour ferry ride on rough seas was horrible

Itinerary

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

Eddie our tour guide was excellent

Eddie our tour guide was excellent Very knowledgeable and personable Gave many excellent insights made jokes His English was very good and even though he spoke rather fast acknowledging that he was trying to give us as much info as possible we enjoyed the tour A bit on the negative side we had not realized that we could not access St Peters Basilica in the end of our tour note we had booked the 6PM tour since it closes at 7PM Maybe this piece of information should have been made clear on the getyourguide website while booking that given time slot This misunderstanding caused us to have to return the subsequent day for that throwing us a bit off schedule with the rest of our vacation
