About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own set of gear, or choose a private experience with hotel pick-up, a guide, skipper, and a private boat. For the private excursion, lunch is not included but can be purchased in the port and brought on board or you can schedule a lunch stop at a restaurant. Ferry tickets for the private experience cost an additional 60 euros (paid at check-in).

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

CRUISING FOR MY BIRTHDAY

Firstly I want to say a massive thank you to Gina, absolutely fantastic tour guide full of knowledge and also very encouraging as I was nervous to get in the water and snorkel. I would recommend this experience to everyone it’s a once in a life time thing to do! Thanks so much Gina truly a star, the actual Island of Ponza is a beautiful place, I couldn’t of spent my 30th birthday in a better way.

Beautiful Mediterranean water, lots of swimming opportunities and some history too!

The tour was wonderful, beautiful island, well-led, and truly relaxing. The food itself is quite bland, especially for Italy, but the tour overall was quite memorable!

Beautiful Ponza

A wonderful trip around a beautiful island. Fabulous vistas and rock formations at every turn, a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide, Gina, an excellent simple lunch and wonderful swimming. The best way to see the island.

Great Day trip from Rome

We booked this excursion for three families (6 adults & 10 children ranging in age from 8 to 15). We were a little concerned about the 13-hour duration of the tour, but this proved unwarranted as the time went by very quickly. The five hours spent on the boat that took us to five different snorkeling spots was amazing. We enjoyed getting into the water especially with the 38C/100F temp. The tuna pasta served onboard at one of the stops was tasty. They prepared plain pasta for those who do not like fish. There was one unfortunate issue for a young woman who is allergic to fish. They ran out of the plain pasta. They made another serving for her but unfortunately the serving utensils had already touched the fish pasta. If you’re not into fish or pasta, you may want to bring your own lunch or food. Perhaps one of the highlights was swimming through the grottoes. Despite the lengthy travel time on a bus and boat to and from the island, we still loved the trip and are talking about doing it again. We also want to thank Gina, our guide. She was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout the trip.
