About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own set of gear, or choose a private experience with hotel pick-up, a guide, skipper, and a private boat. For the private excursion, lunch is not included but can be purchased in the port and brought on board or you can schedule a lunch stop at a restaurant. Ferry tickets for the private experience cost an additional 60 euros (paid at check-in).

Wonderful experience except for the ferry

The guide Ponza and the boat ride around the island were all 5 stars But the 2 hour ferry ride on rough seas was horrible

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

A perfect day

Gina was the perfect guide, informative and a language expert (she could speak italian, russian, portuguese...). The pickup and drop off was smooth and on time. The best part of the experience was the island itself, an excellent day far from the crowds and hot summer days in Rome. The highlight of my family trip to Italy.

Highlight of Italy Trip

My son and I toured Italy for 10 days and it was fascinating. As great as everything was, our Ponza Island excursion was the BEST! Absolutely stunning views, beautiful water, swimming, snorkeling, and our guide were all fantastic! Our guide, Kimberly was so accommodating and made us feel welcome and comfortable our entire trip. She was also super informative. The trip was well planned as we never felt rushed and had ample time at each stop to swim, and take in the spectacular atmosphere of the Mediterranean Ocean.

Absolutely best tour we went on.

Absolutely best tour we went on. Our guide I believe her name was Kimberly, was organized and informative. The island is beautiful and the waters were amazing. Just can't say enough about it. Hope we can go again someday.

The trip is brilliant value for money

Myself and my boyfriend went on the boat day trip with EcoArt travel. We couldn't commend them highly enough for the smooth organisation and running of the trip. Everything was sorted all we had to worry about was having fun. An Ice cream boat even landed by. Kimberley was our guide, she was very friendly, fun, helpful and informative, even giving us a great dinner recommendation when we got back to Rome. The trip is brilliant value for money, a very enjoyable, relaxing day with some spectacular views. A great experience all round. Would definitely do it again. Thanks

This was the best part of my trip to Rome.

Our guide Christina was outstanding! The group of people attending were also really great. This was the best part of my trip to Rome. The only thing is the pasta on the boat was meh. My advice is to grab a freshly made sandwich when you first arrive in Ponza at one of the many little market stores on the main street overlooking the harbor. The wine on the boat was very tasty though! I purchased the snorkel just in case but have to say, not needed at all, the place is just so beautiful above the water not many colorful fish from my experience and swim through the grotto - so lovely! Perfect day, great guide and the most perfect day!
