About the tour

Explore Rome's secret island, Ponza, on a day trip departing from central Rome. Avoid crowded, lacklustre beaches near Rome and enjoy crystal-clear waters 30 nautical miles away in Ponza.

The ferry to Ponza, costing 60 euros (not included, payable at check-in), departs from Anzio, offering a 1.5-hour ride. Upon arrival in Ponza, take a brief break for breakfast and board an excursion boat for an exhilirating 5-hour circumnavigation of Ponza. Discover hidden coves, gravity-defying rock formations, and blue grottoes while your expert tour leader translates the Italian commentary. Make 4-5 stops for swimming and snorkeling, and enjoy a pasta lunch freshly prepared by the captain and served on board, picnic style.

The boat excursion ends at 4:00 PM, providing an hour of free time in Ponza's lively port to enjoy an ice cream or a spritz, or to shop. Board the return ferry to Anzio, reaching central Rome just before 9:00 PM. This organized tour handles logistics, ensuring a worry-free experience.

Opt for the "with snorkel" option to receive your own set of gear, or choose a private experience with hotel pick-up, a guide, skipper, and a private boat. For the private excursion, lunch is not included but can be purchased in the port and brought on board or you can schedule a lunch stop at a restaurant. Ferry tickets for the private experience cost an additional 60 euros (paid at check-in).

Itinerary

Starting Point

We meet front of Caffè Cestia in Piazza di Porta San Paolo 1. Please note that above the bar the sign says “BAR PIRAMIDE” and not Caffè Cestia. The caffè is located to the left of OTTICA PIRAMIDE. Look for our representative wearing the color bright green and carrying a flag with the EcoArt logo.The cafè is open in the early mornings. The closest metro stop is the Line B - Piramide station.

This was the best part of my trip to Rome.

Our guide Christina was outstanding! The group of people attending were also really great. This was the best part of my trip to Rome. The only thing is the pasta on the boat was meh. My advice is to grab a freshly made sandwich when you first arrive in Ponza at one of the many little market stores on the main street overlooking the harbor. The wine on the boat was very tasty though! I purchased the snorkel just in case but have to say, not needed at all, the place is just so beautiful above the water not many colorful fish from my experience and swim through the grotto - so lovely! Perfect day, great guide and the most perfect day!

Wonderful tour, beautiful scenery, and great guide! I'm so glad I found/booked this day trip! Our guide, Christina, was personable, informative, and attentive to everyone in attendance. She made sure we were all having a good time. The trip was well organized, and the island is beyond beautiful. It's a must if traveling to Italy!

The best end to a busy trip!

My husband and I spent 10 days travelling Europe which included several tours and TONS of walking. We planned this Ponza excursion on our last day before returning home and it was the best end to a busy trip! We were able to relax and soak up the sun all day. Our guide, Kimberly was amazing! She was very informative about Ponza and was extremely attentive to all of our passengers. The captain prepared a delicious pasta lunch served with wine and we had expresso for dessert. Swimming through the grottos was incredible and we made some friends that we plan to keep in touch with. We highly recommend this trip to recoup before you return home! It's a nice change to the busy touristy areas around Italy.

amazing place and perfect day out of rome

the tour was the best day for me and my childs in our vacation in rome. Ponza was one of the beutifull islands that i see and the waterthe view ntogether with our lovely guide kimberly became this day to the best day. thank you.

Best tour ever

Really worth the money! The guide Kimberly is so kind, funny and it's a pleasure to discover this beautiful island with her and friend and family. It's the best and most beautiful tour of my life and I will definitely go back there some day. Don't think about it too much, just do it. I promise you, you won't regret it. Enjoy :-)
